inspired me

instead of "study" i typed the word "stupid". that must mean i am tired and need a break so i will update you with some good parts of one of my favorite books:You have the right to work, but for the work's sake only. You have no rights to the fruits of work. Desire for the fruits of work must never be your motive in working. Never give way to laziness, either. Work done with anxiety about results is far inferior to work done without such anxiety, in the calm of self-surrender. They who work selfishly for results are miserable. - from the Bhagavad Gita* * * * *I read them "The Pudding Like the Night on the Sea" from The Stories Julian Tells, in which a father threatens his sons with a whipping and a beating, only to have them whip cream and beat eggs to make a pudding for their mother. I used different voices for the different chanracters. They loved it. They laughed so hard, some of them were wheezing to catch their breath. I laughed, too. It felt so good. I thought: This is what it's all been for, this moment of having my own classroom, laughing together.* * * * *How To Teach LearningSing itSeal it in an envelopeTwist it under a bottle cap "You Are a Winner!"Tie it to the leg of a carrier pigeon and let it soarHoard it greedily, with your back turned Then share it with a magnanimous grin and glittering eyesMake it a surprise, shining like a quater under a pillowWhisper it, like the tow of summer's breath through the willowOrHide it just between the tart skin and sweet fleshof an appleMake itForbiddenMake it DeliciousThen let the children bite...* * * * *"The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong-but that's the way to bet." - Damon Runyon* * * * *The end. Back to work!
